Overview
Bayview Village is most commonly associated with its namesake shopping centre and the busy streets surrounding it but there is so much more to this beautiful neighbourhood than commerce and condos. What most people from outside of the area don't realize is just how beautiful the winding, residential streets and cul-de-sacs are here.
Like much of North York, Bayview Village started out as a small farming community in the late 1800s. In 1954, a developer consortium led by Farlinger Development Ltd. began the modern transformation of Bayview with the goal of providing "contemporary living in the countryside".
Bayview Village was built around the natural landscape of the East Don Valley Parklands; the winding and sloping streets were designed so as not to compete with the beauty of the surrounding green space. The town planner, Dr E.G. Faludi, famously said "We will fit the community into the landscape and not the landscape into the community."
