Rosedale is synonymous with Toronto wealth and prosperity. Ask any Torontonian to name the city’s most elite neighbourhoods with some of the best homes for sale in Toronto and chances are Rosedale will be first off the tongue. While there are other neighbourhoods with comparable properties and prestige, Rosedale’s location next to arguably the city’s most famous intersection, Yonge and Bloor, gives it a higher visibility and a recognition factor that adds to its cache.

Rosedale is surrounded by multiple ravines with walking trails as well as several parks like Craighleigh Gardens to its southeast which includes an off-leash dog park.

When we think of Toronto fashion, we tend to think of the Fashion District in King West or the Bohemian styling of residents in areas like Queen West. However, Rosedale has long been known as Toronto’s most fashionable address, largely due to the profile of its residents which include some of the city’s most prominent citizens.

Every great city needs to strike a balance between new development and historic preservation. We get excited in the Toronto real estate business about new builds that bring much needed property options into the marketplace, particularly as we’ve seen demand exceeding supply for some time. However, there are parts of the city that need to maintain their sense of history and charm, where to tear down beautiful old homes to make way for new builds would be an irreparable shame.

Many of Rosedale’s houses are listed as Heritage Properties and North Rosedale as a whole is being considered for designation as a historical district. This will make it increasingly difficult for buyers and investors to construct new homes—a win for local residents who cherish the Old Toronto feel. However, this does mean property prices will continue to soar in this sought-after neighbourhood if new properties are not being created and turnover continues to be low.
