One of the most affluent towns in Ontario, Oakville is located West of Toronto and Mississauga. Situated on the shores of Lake Ontario, picturesque harbours are lined with sailboats. The communities closest to the lake include Bronte Village, Downtown Oakville and Old Oakville. These areas are known for their upscale shopping and designated heritage properties, like the Oakville Museum and the Oakville Lighthouse. Browse through gift shops, antiques or grab a bite at one of the cafes or restaurants. Bronte Village is also known for its camping, hiking and farms situated in the Bronte Creek Provincial Park. Here, events like the Maple Syrup Festival and the Trillium Art Festival are held in the park annually. Commuting to Toronto or further West is easy through the Oakville Go Station.

Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian and Tudor style homes from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Waterfront mansions and luxury townhomes are found in the waterfront community of Bronte Village.

In 2011, Amazon.ca named Oakville the fifth most romantic city in Canada based on the consumption of romantic novels and films. Although the harbour here doesn’t hurt as inspiration.
