Located directly North of York, Midtown and East York, North York is a suburb district on the fast track to development. A mix of new immigrants and families who move North to raise children, North York is a great place to explore culture in all its facets. Home to a vast Korean population in Willowdale, Hangul (the Korean Writing System) lines shop windows and gives you a great opportunity to learn about foods like bibimbap, kimchi and bulgogi. There is also a strong Russian community sharing their knowledge of pelmeni, borscht, Khachapuri, Plov and Kotleti. Beyond food, North York is home to the cultural immersion of Black Creek Pioneer Village, a learning opportunity for adults and kids alike to discover what life was like in the 19th century with this authentic village recreation. Check out the Ontario Science Centre, where there are hundreds of science-related exhibitions or the beyond breathtaking architectural wonder that is the Aga Khan Museum. A museum that houses a collection of Islamic art from the Middle East and North Africa and is affiliated with the Aga Khan Foundation. Visit Mel Lastman Square, for a stroll in the park or visit one of its various Russian, Latin, Canada Day and Art festivals throughout the year. North York hosts a plethora of higher education institutions including York University, Seneca College, Osgoode Hall Law School and Tyndale University College and Seminary. Accounting for almost a quarter of the GTA, North York prioritizes accessible health care with the North York General Hospital, Humber River Regional Hospital and Sunnybrook Health Science Centre. With eight TTC subway station stops, North York is well connected. There are a diverse number of neighborhoods in North York, with affordable housing found in neighborhoods like Downsview, as well as more luxury properties in neighborhoods like Willowdale, Bayview Village and Bridle Path.

Those who are looking to make a slow move towards the suburbs and away from Toronto. North York has alot of the benefits of living in Midtown, like a thriving and quickly developing Yonge strip. But North York covers a larger space amount of space and so is heavier in strictly residential areas and quieter neighborhoods.

North York is a great neighborhood to find single family homes finished in Greek, Italianate and Neo-Gothic styles that typically have 4 bedrooms or more. There are also a lot of new condo buildings with one or two bedrooms in the York Mills and Willowdale areas close to Yonge street.

Downsview Park in North York is Canada’s first urban national park. The 291 acre parkland is a mix of forest, ponds, trails, gardens, play areas and sports fields. The site is also home to annual Earth Day celebrations and Canada Day fireworks.
