Erin Mills is a unique neighbourhood in the City of Mississauga in that it’s a purpose-built community centred on Erin Mills Town Centre, the city’s largest shopping mall. This planned community in the centre of Mississauga was developed by the Cadillac Fairview Corporation on what was 8,000 acres of farmland, now transformed into a vibrant residential and commercial neighbourhood with additional industrial areas around the perimeter.
Erin Mills has been developed over phases with the first three being central Erin Mills along with the South and West pockets, phase four being Churchill Meadows which borders Milton in one of the most rural parts of Mississauga. Outside of Churchill Meadows, most residents view the other phases as making up one, autonomous “Erin Mills” community.
Erin Mills is well known for its newer subdivisions, custom homes, shopping mall and community centre but it isn’t all about buildings and big business. Sugar Maple Forest runs through the middle of Erin Mills, just north of Erin Mills Town Centre off of Glen Erin Drive. It provides wonderful walking trails for residents looking to escape to nature.
