Description
Yorkville homes for sale are typically compact, Victorian row-houses although there are some larger semi-detached and detached properties to be found.
Turnover of Toronto houses for sale in Yorkville is low but condos like 18 Yorkville offer easier entry into the neighbourhood and are a great choice for professionals who want to spend their precious free time enjoying the vibrant area, not on home maintenance.
But don’t assume choosing a Yorkville condo over a house will result in cost-savings; a two-bedroom condo on popular streets like Cumberland and Bellair can fetch as much as a small but charming row-house on Scollard.
There are however more affordable options in some of the pre-construction builds including Yorkville Plaza II being constructed at the corner of Cumberland and Avenue Road. It has pre-construction suites starting from the mid $300s. At that price, units are small but may be worth it to you in order to live in one of North America’s most prestigious locations. Remember though, there's a lot of risk inherent in buying pre-construction along with hidden fees - your final price is never the list price.
Yorkville also has some of the city’s most luxurious residences in a surprising location – inside one of Yorkville’s top hotels. The new Four Seasons hotel, which recently moved locations from the west side of the neighbourhood to Yorkville and Bay, has two towers, each offering private residences with designer finishes, panoramic city views, a private lobby and all the services and amenities associated with hotel living.
Four Season Residences have already sold out and although we anticipate a low turnover at this premium address, it’s one to watch if money is no option and you want a truly high-end, turn-key lifestyle. But all that luxury and convenience comes with a hefty price tag. When the 55th floor penthouse sold back in 2011, it fetched the highest price ever for a Canadian condominium.
Best For
Affluent singles and couples looking for a lavish lifestyle and high-end Toronto homes for sale, including some of Toronto's most luxurious condos.
Overview
It’s hard to believe that Yorkville was once a hippie-haven and hotbed for radical, anti-establishment thinking in the 1960’s. Yorkville is now one of the city’s most elite neighbourhoods with narrow but opulent Toronto houses for sale and lavish new-build condominiums.
Yorkville is known for its high-end shopping – it has some of the most expensive commercial rent in North America – along with luxury hotels and fine dining restaurants that draw in hordes of tourists. But it’s also a wonderful part of the city to live in.
Residents enjoy easy access to amenities and transit along with all the perks of an affluent lifestyle like visits to the spa, fine grocers and a day spent hunting for exquisite art and antiques at one of the many private dealers.
Why We Love Yorkville
It Defines Summer in the City for Us
Sure, when one thinks of summer one may conjure images of picnics in the park or strolls by the lakefront. But summer in the city for us isn’t complete without days spent lounging on the big rock on Cumberland with an iced coffee and sipping a cocktail (or three) on the rooftop patios of iconic Yorkville bars like Remy’s, The Pilot and Hemingway’s.
Isn’t it Romantic?
Despite its elite status, there’s something really quaint and romantic about a hot summer night spent wandering Yorkville with a loved one. We think it might have something to do with its bohemian roots.
There’s still a rebel heart beating inside that luxurious façade that makes you want to follow a very grown-up, very fancy dinner date with a game of tag in Yorkville Park. Or is that just us?
