Families looking for affordable houses for sale in North York close to major highways, in an up-and-coming neighbourhood.
Overview
Humber Summit is located in the northwest section of North York and it’s starting to build real estate momentum with young families seeking affordable alternatives to most homes for sale in Toronto.
One of Toronto’s northern most communities, Humber Summit was once a resort town known as Riverbank Park where early Torontonians built small cottages by the banks of the Humber River. After Hurricane Hazel hit in 1954, decimating many properties, modest, new build single-family homes were erected in their place. More recently, there’s been a move to tear down these bungalows and original cottages and erect larger, two-storey custom homes in their place.
Area residents are largely Italian and South Asian families but we’re seeing an influx of new buyers from a variety of different backgrounds moving in, taking advantage of the area’s affordability while it lasts. This area is undergoing a sea change with the addition of the Etobicoke-Finch West LRT and the leadership of the Emery Village BIA who are focusing on business improvement and streetscape beautification projects.
Why We Love Humber Summit
Traversing the Trail is a Perfect Weekend Activity
Local outdoor enthusiasts take advantage of the West Humber Parkland Trail, a nearly six kilometre paved trail through the Humber Valley where you can spot wildlife and enjoy the great outdoors.
The trail culminates in the Humber Arboretum (located just south of Humber Summit) with its beautiful, botanical gardens; the perfect setting for a day-time picnic date or family day out. It’s home to the Carolinian bioregion which is the most diverse ecosystem in Canada with over 1,700 species of plants and animals.
