Overview
Named after the Park at the heart of this popular uptown neighbourhood, Wanless Park shares many similarities with its neighbour to the west, Bedford Park. Both communities offer outstanding schools, amenities and proximity to TTC and the 401. The main differences are that Wanless Park homes tend to be a little larger with longer frontages. As well, most Wanless Park homes either back onto or face either the park or the ravine and this is reflected in the prices.
Wanless Park is often amalgamated with Bedford Park and Teddington Park and referred to collectively as “Lawrence Park North” which has been graded by the City of Toronto as having the least inequities of all neighbourhoods in the city, making it Toronto’s #1 neighbourhood.
Why We Love Wanless Park
Its Schools Rule
Wanless Park schools are ranked highly and the mix of public, Catholic, Montessori and private, including French immersion options, means that parents have plenty of choices in selecting the education track that’s right for their children. It Manages to be Both Active and Tranquil
Wanless Park is close to the bustling retail district of Yonge Lawrence Village and minutes to the 401 but most homes are nestled in tree-lined, residential streets near the ravine or Wanless Park–the 5-acre green space at the heart of this neighbourhood. The leafy green vistas give a sense of calm to this otherwise active family neighbourhood where kids take full advantage of Wanless Park’s playground, wading pool and sporting fields, as well as the nearby Bedford Park Community Centre.
It’s a Winner
Lawrence Park North claimed first place in the recent equity ranking study conducted by the City of Toronto that looks at everything from health and education to politics and economics. Some criticize the city’s ranking system for being too simplistic–it only contains 15 measures. However, we think they’re pretty important ones that offer a good sense of what a neighbourhood is really like to live in.Not convinced? Check out the 2014 Toronto Life guide to Toronto’s top neighbourhoods where Lawrence Park North takes an impressive #15 spot, beating out prime Toronto neighbourhoods like North Riverdale and Palmerston - Little Italy.
