Welcome to the Beverly Hills of the GTA. Lorne Park is a popular community in Mississauga with the Credit River to the north and the Lake to the south. It’s often grouped together with neighbouring Clarkson as Clarkson-Lorne Park.
This quiet, residential neighbourhood has a stellar combination of amenities, parks, picturesque stretches of waterfront and lovely homes all just ½ hour drive to downtown Toronto, making it a top choice for affluent executives and families looking for luxury houses for sale in Mississauga close to the lake.
People who are drawn to Lorne Park are seeking picturesque streets and large, landscaped yards with a variety of recreational opportunities. In Lorne Park, you can walk, bike or cycle to the Lake easily from most homes. What you won’t get is a lot of local amenities.
While you’ll find a few shops (there is a small grocers / marketplace), Lorne Park is almost exclusively residential. Most residents drive over to neighbouring Port Credit or Clarkson for day-to-day shopping and services or for the restaurants and nightlife. Its proximity to commercial areas makes it appealing to buyers looking for a suburban vibe community that’s still close to urban amenities – just don’t expect to walk to everything here.

As its name suggests, life in Lorne Park is all about its local parks.
The lakeside park of Richard’s Memorial Park contains a sandy beach area, waterfront trail, forested area, rock garden, two picnic areas and a barbecue and a playground for kids. Also lakeside, the Jack Darling Memorial Park is classified as a “picnic park” and a great space for quiet contemplation or a family reunion with its barbeques and two, large picnic areas that seat 150 people.
Birchwood Park, just north of Lakeshore, is a great space for active families with a baseball diamond, tennis court, cricket field, soccer field, basketball court, off-leash dog area and more. There are also a handful of smaller, local parks in this ‘hood.
The Lots Here are Lovely
Most of the homes in Lorne Park are situated on sprawling plots with well-manicured, deep frontages. Add to that the winding, tree-lined streets and the vibe here is both elegant and laid-back, a rare combination in an urban ‘hood.
Its Schools Make the Grade. Mostly.
Lorne Park is considered by many to have one of the best overall school districts in the city. That said, some of the four, local schools – Lorne Park, Tecumseh and Whiteoaks Public Schools and Hillcrest Middle School - have had varied results over the last few years in reputable ranking systems such as the Fraser Institute’s.
Tecumseh has had a fairly consistent run of high marks though and it’s well worth your consideration if you’re thinking of moving to Lorne Park and have young children and Hillcrest has a great reputation.
Like Toronto, Mississauga school admissions are based on geographic location and Lorne Park area schools are particularly strict on this. Make sure before you buy a Mississauga home that it falls within your desired school zone boundaries.
