Overview
Lisgar is a neighbourhood in northwest Mississauga close to Meadowvale and Churchill Meadows in Erin Mills (and in fact, it shares many similarities with these neighbouring communities).
The biggest draw for Lisgar real estate is its affordable and rather nice detached homes. It’s one of the few Mississauga communities where a first time buyer could conceivably purchase a detached property. Of course, like all neighbourhoods, there are more expensive, luxury properties and starter homes at the lower end of the market but the average Lisgar home offers a lot of property bang for buyers’ bucks.
Lisgar is also popular because it’s a really pretty area. It’s known for the picturesque Osprey Marsh (see below) but it also has a number of lovely parks and many of the residential streets here are picturesque and tree-lined.
Lisgar has a GO station with stops to Union Station but note that it’s on the Milton line where trains aren’t as frequent as the Lakeshore line. You’re also right next to Highway 407 in Lisgar which is a plus for commuters.
Why We Love Lisgar
It’s a Walkers / Cyclists’ Dream
Osprey Marsh is home to a diverse range of flora, fauna and animal life. The “off-the-beaten-path” Osprey Marsh Loop Trail that follows the marsh is a great place for a Sunday stroll. It’s connected to the Lisgar Meadow Brook Trail which is a long and picturesque walk-bike trail.
The community offers various ride days throughout the year – particularly during Bike Month / Ride Month in June – so if you’re a little nervous to traverse the trail on your own, you can experience it others and make new friends.
