Families looking for reasonably-priced, detached Mississauga homes for sale close to the City Centre.
Overview
Hurontario is a central Mississauga neighbourhood north of Square One Shopping Centre. As you may have guessed, Hurontario Street runs through the centre of this neighbourhood and it’s just north of the City Centre so the area is a little more hectic than other parts of Mississauga.
When it comes to real estate, it’s not unlike Fairview on the other side of Mississauga City Centre. Hurontario homes are a bit of a mixed bag from older bungalows and detached two-storeys to newer condos and everything in between. It’s a good location for commuters due to its proximity to major routes in and out of the city coupled with access to a wide variety of local amenities.
Hurontario was initially planned as an agricultural community in the 1950s but the City changed its tact by 1975 when a vision for Hurontario as series of master-planned subdivisions arose, although it took until 1981-82 to formalize that strategy.
Since then, Hurontario has been under near constant development and population density has greatly increased.
Why We Love Hurontario
It’s Constantly Changing
Even with Mississauga being home to so many “young” neighbourhoods, you would think a community this close to the City Centre would’ve been fully developed by now. Due to Hurontario’s rather late start however (the residential building boom didn’t start here until the early 1980s), there’s still a lot of building activity in Hurontario to come.
If you’re looking for a new, turn-key builder’s home or a brand new condo, you may be able to find one here for a good price.
