Best For
Young professionals looking for condos for sale in Toronto who require super easy highway access; Fort York's perfect for reverse commuters who work west of the city.
Overview
Situated in the vicinity of the Fort York National Historic Site, which occupies over 40 acres on the north end of this neighbourhood, the Fort York neighbourhood offers a mix of affordable and luxury Toronto condo living. It’s a driver’s paradise with easy access to the Gardiner and Lakeshore, along with many bus and streetcar options.
Fort York runs from Bathurst to Fort York Boulevard, and Lakeshore to the Gardiner (north of which is largely Historic Fort York).
Toronto homes for sale in Fort York come largely in the form of modern, high-rise Toronto condos.
If you love glass vista views of the city and want all your finishes to be slick and new, you’ll enjoy the condo towers of Fort York. Fort York condos include the Neptune / Neptune II near Coronation Park, just a short stroll to the Toronto Waterfront.
Also located in Fort York, the Tip Top Lofts is one of our favourite Toronto authentic lofts. Its historic art deco design and respectful merging of old and new (with its well-planned soft loft addition above the original hard loft lower levels) is a great example of a Toronto loft conversion. The Tip Top Tailor Lofts also have excellent amenities including a full-sized gym, whirlpool and sauna, barbeque access and more–rare features in Toronto hard lofts.
Why We Love Fort York
Historic Fort York
We’d be amiss not to mention the area’s namesake. Not just an historic site of military fortifications (although it is that too, with Canada’s largest collection of original 1812 war buildings), today’s Historic Fort York is an entertaining attraction with year-long events and educational programs. It’s a great destination for families with young children.
Commutability
Most of us spend more time at work than we do at recreational activities. Oh, were that not the case. But that’s life for most of us and so there’s something to be said for choosing a neighbourhood that reduces your commute time and avoids the aggravation of cutting through the downtown core.
If you work west of the city or have to drive to work downtown and want alternative route options to King and Adelaide, this is an excellent area to consider. You’re still close enough to the city’s vibrant nightlife and have bus options as well as the Bathurst streetcar for when you need to leave the car at home.
